How to Watch the NHL on Your Phone in 2026-27 (US and Canada)

Anúncios

This page covers the United States: who has the national games, how the out-of-market package works and what changed with local channels this season.

National games: ESPN, ABC and TNT

ESPN and ABC have 100 exclusive regular-season games. 53 air on ESPN or ABC, and 47 stream only on ESPN+, Disney+ and Hulu. ABC Hockey Saturday starts January 16, 2027, and ABC also has the All-Star Game and the Stadium Series. On a phone, all of it lives in the ESPN app.

TNT Sports has 72 games, mostly on Wednesday and Friday nights, plus the Heritage Classic on October 25, the Winter Classic on December 31, the Black Friday game and the 2027 Stanley Cup Final. On a phone, TNT games stream on HBO Max, but only on the Standard and Premium plans. The Basic with Ads plan has no live sports.

Out-of-market games: NHL Power Play on ESPN

If you live far from your team, NHL Power Play in the ESPN app carries more than 1,050 out-of-market games, with the choice of home or away broadcast and replays. Guides disagree on which ESPN plan includes it, so check the plan page in the app before you pay. Games that air on ESPN or ABC themselves need the top ESPN plan or a TV provider login.

Playoffs and the Stanley Cup Final

In the US, the 2027 playoffs are split between ESPN and TNT: ESPN and ABC have first and second-round series and one conference final, and TNT has the rest of its share plus the Stanley Cup Final. In Canada, Sportsnet has every playoff game under the new Rogers deal, Prime Video streams two first-round series and one second-round series, and TVA Sports carries the French-language playoffs, including every Canadiens series.

Blackouts, explained

A blackout happens when the rights to a game belong to someone else where you are. Your local team is blacked out on NHL Power Play because the local channel owns those games in your area. National exclusive games on ESPN, ABC or TNT are also left out of local packages. Apps decide by your location, so if a game is blocked by mistake, ESPN suggests switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data. Using a VPN to get around a blackout breaks the ESPN terms of use.

Local channels: the big change this season

The FanDuel Sports Network regional channels shut down on September 30, 2026, and no NHL team is on them this season. Teams moved in three directions:

  • Free over-the-air TV through Scripps: Vegas, Nashville, Tampa Bay and Florida.
  • Prime Video: Anaheim, Seattle and Dallas are included with Amazon Prime; Carolina, Columbus, Minnesota and St. Louis sell a team subscription inside Prime Video that does not need Amazon Prime.
  • DAZN: the Rangers, Islanders, Devils and Sabres (MSG+), the Kings, and the Capitals through Monumental+.

Other teams kept their regional sports networks with their own apps: NESN 360 for Boston, SNP 360 for Pittsburgh, CHSN for Chicago, Altitude+ for Colorado, Detroit SportsNet inside the MLB app, and the NBC Sports add-ons on Peacock for Philadelphia and San Jose. The team finder on page 1 has the details for each one.
